Default New S2000...What's normal?

Hey Guys,

Just picked up my first S2k. It's a 2005 AP2 and i had just a few questions about some things i am hearing. I tried looking for these specific things on the forums but couldnt find these specific things.

First.
I think i'm getting clutch buzz. I notice the sound most past 3rd gear. It doesnt happen when accelerating, only when i let off the throttle i hear this high pitched grinding/buzzing sound. I know the AP2's didnt have them. But i have a feeling the clutch disk was replaced with an AP1 clutch disk from the previous owner. The dealership i bought this from did say the previous owner had replaced the clutch recently. Not super worried about this one.

Second:
Whenever i start moving, i can hear this sort of grinding sound thats more low pitched. Sounds like its coming from directly behind where the engine is. Doesnt happen on idle and only when the car starts moving. At any speed. If i had to describe it in a weird way...it sounds like a rolling grind...like maybe it's something to do with my wheels or axels or something.

Here's the thing. I dont feel any of these sounds. I can just hear them. Theres no grinding feel in the pedals or shifter. And the car feels great all the way through redline in every gear. So i dont know if i'm just not used to these sounds or what.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Clutch buzz is common with aftermarket crap clutches, such as exedy or junk from ebay. The designs are based on ap1, so no surprise they buzz.

The good news is that clutch will inly last maybe 25k miles, so then you can replace it with oem. Go with a lighter flywheel then too.

They probably didn't grease anything either, so you will get clutch hang and shift grind before the clutch disk springs fall out.

It likely has an aftermarket clutch...which explains the buzz. and as mentioned, you'll probably need a clutch soon.

Buy a clutch (and associated parts) from a Honda dealer when the time comes. Don't buy it elsewhere unless they too, sourced the parts from Honda..

Have the car inspected for what is grinding. This probably needs to be done in person. It'd be hard for someone to guess the grind via the internet.

Only grinding I've ever heard of is from bad wheel bearings. But thats a pretty easy sound to pinpoint. Its probably the junk clutch making the sound behind the engine.

I really hope it really is the junk clucth. If it is then i'd be able to kill two birds with one stone. These are literally the only two major things i was able to see when i got the car. Hopefully a more in depth inspection will confirm or deny.
