buzzing sound from clutch
I was just doing a search about our clutch ... I found a few threads mentioning a "buzzing" coming from the clutch with shifts in the 3-4k range on the earlier S2000's. I have an S03. Everyday since I brought the car home I have noticed a noise just before my clutch fully engages (catches). This is most noticable at normal shifts (not sporty). I wouldn't call it a buzz, more of a growl. At first I didn't think it was anything to worry about, but now I don't know. I can reproduce the sound at around 3-4k by lighty pushing the clutch in, but not so far that it disengages.. It's not that loud -my wife wouldn't hear it if I didn't point it out. I don't hear it in first gear, because I don't start from stop with the rpms that high..
I have driven manual transmissions for a long time, and never noticed this sound before. . I don't have a problem rev-matching, and I don't think I am shifting incorrectly (I wouldn't even say that I am slipping the clutch slowly. My shifts are fairly quick.) Any thoughts? Do you think I am hearing the same "buzz" that earlier models had?... I thought they changed the clutch for '03. Should I have the dealer look at it?
Incidently, bought the car new with 35 miles on it. Now with 1800 miles. I am just getting to know the car and now I am worried that I will need to either "baby" my clutch or replace it... I have only launched it 4 times... all from around 6k rpm - except for the last time when I got a little carried away and spun the clutch to about 8k without moving the back tires.
Sorry so long, but thanks for your input..

I heard that there is a TSB and fix for buzzing clutch but now that our Library is gone I can't find the TSB "honda techinical service bulletin" Library used to have every stinking one ever published.
Deceleration Buzz. TSB-050 if I remember correctly. Sounds like sh*t doesn't it? I took my car back to the dealership and they ran a computer check to see if there were any open TSB's on my car not yet fixed. He said there were none and that I had the spark plug TSB performed. They couldn't have driven it because it's still bothering the p*ss out of me
. Make sure they drive it and hear it.
