Is this the Ballade tensioner you are trying to re-install?

Yes but if I knew how to compress the oem tensioner I would do that too. I just can’t get the balladesport to sit flush with the block. So I took the whole spring thing out and it still wouldn’t pop flush with the block without a lot of hassle so maybe it was never over tensioned... I dunno why everything seems so hard

You can't find another cotter pin to keep the spring compressed?

You can retract/reinstall the OEM TCT the same way as the Ballade using the screw Ballade provided.

I suspect Billman made his inlet hole larger to kill several birds with one stone: avoid blockages from possible debris in the oil (the smaller the hole, the easier it is to block) from metal shavings to sealant pieces floating around from improper installation on the engine. The other advantage is, with better flow, faster reaction to oil pressure and keeping the chain properly adjusted.

I always thought the "rattle" was not the TCT but the chain and it's associated components making noise from being out of proper tension.

I think the balladesport tensioner just wasn’t sucked in enough when I got it. I was able to compress it some more and had it sitting better.... no matter how much I turned crank shaft I couldn’t get it to pop in before but now I was able to slide it in there... it is now reinstalled and no longer leaking so I think I’m in the clear?

Hopefully it will work out for you but research is key when changing engine components that are not made by the manufacturer. There are many horror stories about the TCT you chose but not one about the one you should have chosen. I wish your engine a good life.

All I can say is the the Billman TCT I purchased this summer came with very clear installation instructions and went in without a hitch. Works great. No worries. Fast timely shipping. Return of core fee was on time as promised. Highly recommended.

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn sometimes. Or he sold the S2000 soon thereafter...he doesn't have one now.

Not every Ballade TCT destroys engines but enough of them do according to experiences posted here.
