I'm very suprised it's been there for quite a while and nothing given up... It's also down on power quite abit. Very flat through the revs, another sign of it being piston slap possibly?

Piston slap is just a term for what most view as a normal condition that you live with. If it is down on power you have other issues though and my guess is rod knock.

Not really, some oils are better at reducing the level of the noise. What oil are you running right now and how cold temps do you get in your region.

You can try to post up on the forums of bobistheoilguy.com , lots of guys over there have been dealing with piston slap issues as it is very common particularly among domestic motors.

I would love to say it would be something to do with the oil I'm using, off the top of my head I can't remember the viscosity but know it's mobil1 brand. Just trying to find out what a noise like this could go on for so long without something giving up. Because like I said its been there for absolute months now. It ran 226 on the dyno and in vtec is doesn't pull anything like my brothers does. It's really started to grind me down now and considering a new lump but they are so costly and would prefer to repair what I have if possible. Just superisd no one has had similar issues
