Default Nitrous -- more power before Vtec?

I have Nitrous on my S2K and I've ran several HP vs RPM curves (via PDA Dyno) and noticed that the gain from Nitrous is much more before Vtec, and drops after VTEC as compared to non-Nitrous assisted plots.

Looks like when VTEC kicks in, the Nitrous is not as effective. Anyone with Nitrous seen this too?

I have a zex wet kit - 55, 65, or 75 shot.

I did change the VTEC engagment point and the power curve moves with the VTEC point. It peaks right before VTEC and then the gain is reduced (but still has gain over stock)

If that is so, you could have a nitrous window, say 2.5k to 5500 or so. I wouldnt run a huge shot, something like a 45/55. A 55 shot at 2000 is roughly the same effect as a 110 shot at 4k.

On a supercharged car, it would make for interesting results.

Mine is supercharged when I run nitrous. Forgot to mention that.

I use it to boost low and mid range power.

You definitely need to be careful and smart about it. I run 55 shot only rarely and when I do, I have a boost activated shut off switch. I also run pretty high octane fuel.

My nitrous shuts down when I get to around 3-4 psi of boost --approximately around 6.5K RPM.

My HP vs RPM curve looks like a turbo charged S2000. About 40 more HP from 3.5K - 6.5K due to Nitrous. When SC boost starts to kick in, my nitrous shuts down. Peaks around 300 RWHP but that's non-nitrous assist -- only vortech.

Doesn't increase my peak HP, but increases my mid range power, and thus overall acceleration. My guess is upper 12's at about 110+ MPH for 1/4. Need to take it to the track soon. I can trap 107+ MPH without Nitrous and a soft launch.

The other benefit is that I don't waste too much nitrous since it is activated for only a brief amount of time. Also based on my testing, Nitrous doesn't improve much after VTEC.

Here's a plot of my data based on PDA Dyno. There's a bug with the software in that it does not compute HP from 8000-9000 RPM, but you get the idea for a comparison. With this plot, I turned off nitrous at about 6.5K RPM. VTEC engagement was set to 5300 RPM. Red line is Nitrous assisted with SC. Blue line is SC only.

Here's another plot of:

1) Baseline before SC
2) Baseline with 65 shot nitrous
3) SC only
4) SC + 55 shot nitrous and VTEC moved to 5300 RPM

You can see when VTEC kicks in, the Nitrous curve starts to flatten out

Whats funny is that the one time I suggested this in another thread, I was shot down completely, and my idea dismissed as unrealistic.

Bitches.

Yeah, kinda like everyone telling Columbus that the world was flat.

No guts, no glory.
