Default no reverse!

Okay, so about 3 days ago, I went to back out of the parking spot, that happened to be at a downhill slant. When I tried to shift into reverse, it would not go at all. I tried easing it in from 3rd to reverse and tried revving it so that it might slide into reverse. no luck. When my shifter was in neutral, and I moved it from left to right, it felt as if there was a big metal piece or some obstruction blocking me from going all the way over to even reach the part where you pull back for reverse. I thought maybe it was cold or something, so me and my bf sucked it up and pushed it out of the spot. I kept messing with it the rest of the day, and still, no reverse. So, I did some research on here and read a lot about changing the tranny fluid and suddenly the reverse might start working again. SO, I called my mechanic and we did a complete oil, tranny, and diff fluid change. I used mobil 10w-30 for oil, the Honda mtf for the tranny, and mobil 1 75-90 for the diff. We completely drained all the old fluids and refilled with the new last night. After we started it back up and got the fluids flowing thru my car, it started shifting smoother than ever before and went into reverse like it had never had had anything wrong with it. The entire way home, it was fine. Absolutley no problems. But, just to be safe, I parked it in my driveway and left it in reverse last night, bc I thought that it might not want to go in reverse this morning.

So, this morning I get up, back out of the driveway, and start moving my clutch in the neutral position. That blockage thing was there and I couldn't shift into reverse. All day long, even after the car was warm, I could not get it into the reverse at all.

Okay, so I am freakin out. Is it my dreaded tranny goin out? My synchronizer, or what???? Any ideas...? My car has 10700 miles on it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Based on the age of the car and the miles, I wouldn't freak out. You are still under warranty. Why not take it to Honda and have them look at it?

Please clarify:
When you say "blockage", do you mean you cannot push the stick down into the console so that you can move it that last bit to the right to engage reverse? Or are you saying that you CAN push it into the console but it will not move that last bit to the right?
If it's the first thing, then you may have a broken bit at the base of the stick that prevents the stick from being pushed down.
If it's the second thing, then you have something in the tranny that prevents the stick from moving to the far right in line with the reverse gate.
The first one would be far cheaper to fix than the second one. Which one is it?

I had this same problem, I could not press the shift down and therefor could not move it across the gate into reverse.

It only happened when the gearbox was very hot after a stint on the Dyno, once it had cooled down it was OK.

The first one. It's like there is something there that won't let me go the rest of the way to the right to engage in reverse. But why did it work after I had changed my fluids that night?

So, you can't push the stick down into the console, right? A tranny fluid change may have only been coincidental. Fluid will not affect the stick's ability to be pushed down. Something at the base of the stick is loose, cracked or broken. It probably hasn't fallen off yet, so sometimes it may move around and be in the right position to allow the stick to go down. This is the reverse detent and it's part of the console assembly. If I'm not mistaken, it should be a relatively cheap fix.

GOOD QUESTION! These are the kinds of details that make all the difference when asking for help.

yes, I am def pushing down. I have put like 9000 miles on it. I am hoping it is just a cheap fix. So, what do I ask for when I go about ordering this piece?
