No, it is not going down into reverse at all. As I would normally bring it to the right, where the reverse is located, then push down... there is something blocking it and will not let me even get to the reverse gear. I can't pull my shifter back toward me because I can't even get my shifter to go far enough over to reach my reverse. It is like I only have 1st thru 6th. Say your car is in neutral, and you can move your shifter from left to right freely. Well mine stops me before I get all the way to the right. There is a wall or something that hits my shifter and won't let me go enough right so that I could pull back into reverse.

^ For what I can understand, your shifter is stock right before it gets all the way to the right. Now the question is, can you push (not pull) down on the stick to alow access to the far right area? If you can push down on the stick there muct be something wrong with the mechanism that is not working and if you can't push down on it there might be something broken in there like xviper mentioned. Good luck and I hope its a little more clear. is it? Im so

OK, you're still not getting what we want you to tell us.
We know that you cannot make your stick "go down into reverse". What I want to know is:
Once you get as far to the right as possible, can you push the stick STRAIGHT DOWN INTO THE CONSOLE? You push DOWN on the shaft (not pull or push or twist or bend), but actually push DOWN INTO the console (like you are shoving it into the ground). It should move into the console about 1/2 and inch.

(I'm about ready to give up here. Someone else can take over. I'm pretty much done. )

THANK YOU! With this information, It is more likely that your problem lies within the tranny. It's not going to be an easy fix. For your sake, let's hope I'm wrong.

Okay, so me and my boyfriend drove my S to the hot import nights in cleveland. Right before we left, everything started working fine. So, I don't know if it took a few miles for my fluids to really get worked in, or what. This morning it was a little notchy, shifting through all the gears, but after it warmed up, everything was fine. I find that I have to push down on my shifter more than I used to so that it will go into reverse, but that is only when my car is cold. When it is warm, there is no problem.

You should be able to push the shifter straight up and down in NEUTRAL. It should have a light springy action and go up and down smoothly. Next time it acts up see if this is possible. It will determine my next post
