i had the cranking with no start and it pointed to ecu failure, swapped ecu's and flashed it and its running great.

did u get spark from the plugs? be4 the ecu swap.

So what's the last word on the cam timing? I can't let this one go, since it hasn't fired since the re-build.

If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter which way it goes in, as it's symetrical.

the cam timing is off by 1-2 teeth. does that matter? can the ecu hav gone bad? the cams are giving a signal but the ecu is not giving the c.o.p the signal to spark.

Yes, the engine will not start with the cam timing off at all when using a stock PCM. Install the camshafts correctly.

I have the same issue. I was thinking maybe the TDC sensors that are used to set ignition timing at START UP. there are two of them and that might be it I have spark fuel compression and the car wants to fire and nothing.
