Noise
I was getting the ticking/ fluttering sound that wasn't fixed by replacing the timing chain tensioner. (replaced it 3X's within 20K) Recently it appeared as though the fluttering sound had gotten louder so I got fed up because I just replaced the chain tensioner. ( therefore ruled out the tensioner) I decided to go and get a valve adjustment. As soon as I got my car back from the valve job my car's fluttering sound completly stopped. I was extremely happy about this cause the sound has been around for the last 40K clicks. I babied my car (it s a daily driver) didn't hit Vtec for over a week, and not even a single fluttering sound. Then yesterday i decided to open it up and redlined 1st and 2nd (when it was good and warm) immidiatly after the fluttering dound returned. I probably put over 500 clicks on it with out hitting V tec since the valve job. As soon as I reved the car hard it appeared as tho it put the valves out of allignment agian. I am taking my car back to the shop tmr to complain, I need to know what is up this it is Driving me NUTS!
PS: The fluttering sound isn't nearly as loud as it was before the vlave adjustment but I am worried it will get as loud as before.
THANKS VInce

You might try a different brand of engine oil. I've had good luck with Valvoline MaxLife synthetic 10W30. I've also had good luck with Pennzoil Platinum, but when they changed the formula last year the fluttering came back. You might also try one of the group IV (true synthetic oils) like AMSOIL 10W30 or even Castrol Syntec 0W30 (made in Germany).

I've been running mobile 1, and just got an oil change the day after the vlave adjustment. the sound comes around 3k rpm's all the way to 4k before teh engine noise drowns it out. This thing is the sound was completley gone then it came back right after I WOT'd it. ????

I thought it was my injectors aswell, the thing is after I got my valve adjustment the sound was completely gone. Didn't return until I redlined it a couple of times.
