Noises from the rear
After reading through about a dozen threads regarding the S2000 Rear Diff, I think I might have an issue. But I wanted to double check with you guys here because the symptoms I am experiencing is not exactly like what others have reported.
I have an S/C 01 with 42K. I think it is about due for a Diff oil change, which will be done at the beginning of next spring. Last big service was at 35K at the dealer.
A few days ago, I was on my way to work. Usual routine, 3 mile drive to the highway, driven very easy, temp gets up to between 2 or 3 bar depending on outside temp. When I get on the highway (metered), I usually vtec my way to 65mph, taking at least first and second gear to redline. But this time, both in 1st and 2nd gear, I hear a very noticeable whine/sqeek from the rear at near red line. Otherwise, no sound at all during idle, or any other rpm range.
I'm trying to decided if this is something more serious where I should get it looked at now, or if its just a simple case of diff oil getting old, and needed to be refreshed which I will wait till next spring, when I drive the car again (Rains alot in the NW).
Thanks for your time!
Brian
