Default Noisy rear? is this normal?

I noticed that S2000 have very noisy rear. I am guessing rear differential, is this normal?

I just purchased a 04 AP2, it is noisy at low speed, which I am quite concerned. Prior of the purchase my friend allowed me to drove his brand new 06 S2k for 1 month. I put on approximately 1000miles on his S2K. I also noticed it was quite noisy at the rear as well.

I just changed the rear differential fluid, still noisy, I guess I will try mobil 1 75w 90 on Monday. What does Honda dealer normally use?

but i will say that my 03 had plenty of rear end noise at very low speeds, and especially at low speed turns.....so does my 06. some noises are normal. this may be your case, just give us a little more detail.

these cars are noisy everywhere. We need some more information, such as when the noise is made specifically.. speeds, rpms, turning, accel, decel, cruising.. is it definitely coming from behind you, or could it be from beneath you.. what does it sound like.

Thanks for the replies. It is hard to describe, noise under light acceleration and deceleration from the bottom rear, beneath the trunk. I get this noise accelerating/decelerating in straightline. Not loud enough for me to record a sound clip, but I know it is there, doesn't sound right to me.

I have this noise my 04 with 30k miles and same noise on my friend's 06 with 4500miles. I am guessing noisy rear differential, my MKIV Supra had same noise for years. My NSX and all other cars I have owned doesn't have this kind of noise.

I just replaced the tranny, rear differential, engine oil, air filter. The car run great, but the noise make me lose sleep at night.

I ordered some LE607, as soon as it arrives I am going to change the differential fluid again.

The S2000 isn't like "all other cars"
With the NSX you've got an engine between you and the rear to cover-up a lot of noise.

Driving the S2000, one is surrounded by "noise".
Tires / softtop / engine / gearbox / diff / exhaust.
Don't loose any sleep over it

Put some sound dampening material where the spare sits and to the left of that.
(all behind the trunk lining)
That may help.

LE-607 is great-if-not-the-best diff oil!
(for an OEM diff )

I'm getting this metal on metal type of sound. Not sure if this is your problem, but I get it accelerating and decelerating. Thing is, I also hear it at idle sometimes and when I step on the exhaist tip it stops. I thought it was a heat shield under the car, but all seemed tight.
