Default noticable Drivetrain slack

Hey guys,

Im feeling drivetrain slack somewhere in my S. Happens most often when i first shift into gear from a stop (reverse or froward gears) and when im going from first to second in relaxed driving. Also, I notice something when i let go of the gas at high speed and step on it. Guys know what's going on?

Feeling a slight "thump" when initially placing the car into a forward or reverse gear is actually normal. You are correct, slack is being taken out of the drivetrain. Unfortunately, without actually being in the car with you, it's hard to say is your car does it the same amount mine does...

When you let go of the gas and then punch it, does it feel like clutch slip? Do the revs on the engine go up, but you don't propel forward?

How many miles on the car? What is your driving style? Please give more info.

I know what Ballistic is talking about. I actually think that it may be the lack of torque which disables the tires to break loose, therefore, make the jerk back and forth?

Maybe you need stronger rubber bands.

its not when im putting it in gear but when im applying power while going from a stop and going from first to second. It even makes a loud click as im doing so. I most certainly doesnt feel like the tires are breaking loose.

ps. im a granny driver most of the time, 32k miles on a MY2000.

Maybe your rear spindle nuts are too loose. There was a TSB for this, but the symptoms were not quite so severe as you describe.
