Default nub on transmission

Hey yall.

I have a f20c going into my homebuilt lotus 7 replica and had a question about the transmission. I've never worked on or studied an s2000 driveline in its natural habitat.

Is this nub (see picture) ok to remove? it causes a slight clearance issue. Is it used for anything on the s2000?

here is the car its going into

If that's the spot that I think it is, it's only purpose is served when separating the halves of the transmission casing. It is a pry location to help leverage the two halves apart from each other and as far as I know, it is completely solid and the casing behind it is just as thick as everywhere else. I see no reason for you to not be able to cut/grind it off.

All I wanna know is: why do you carry a bicycle at the back of the car?
