Default OCCASIONAL non-start

Ok for the last few weeks about 1 time a week my car will not start unexplainabily, nothing has changed, the car is stock now but was supercharged for a while, now 100% stock. It seems to happen on warm days much more than cold days for some reason. When i try to start it the battery has plenty of power, that is not the issue, i smell fuel and i hear the fuel pump going it just wont start, but if i wait a few hours it will start perfect and i changed nothing. A friend suggested a crank sensor as to it not giving a spark, could this be a possibility to look into further? any other ideas would help alot. thanks
CHRIS.

is it a stock ecu or an aem

If it doesn't start chances are you need to add fuel. Try depressing the pedal halfway if it doesn't start while cranking. That's adjustable on the aem and how I handled it. don't know if it works on a stock ecu but it's worth trying.

If he smells fuel I would say the opposite. It might be flooding.

Do you have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator or something still on the car that would make it flood? Or did you run increased fuel pressure for a long time that could make a couple of the injectors leaky? How many miles on it?

My dads RX7 got up there in miles and a couple injectors started to leak and it would flood on occasion. You either had to let it sit for a while or it would push start every time.

Thinking about it, does your car still have the Walbro pump on it?

Hello, thanks for the quick replies

YES the walbro is still there, (sorry i forgot to mention, i thought that may be an issue, but i THINK its something else)

I dont have an aem FPR or anything, stock s2000 except the walbro pump. If i give it gas nothing happens different, the engine cranks strong and i smell fuel, it sounds 100% normal when cranking over,

Now to discuss the crank sensor more..., what do you guys think the problem is with the sensor (damaged, time to replace, something else?) and is there a better way to say for sure if it is the crank sensor before i just buy a new one and hope that it solves it?

PROBLEM ONLY happens on cold engine, if it starts first thing in morning it will be fine all day.

Another thing i want to point out again is the car seems to have this problem more on warm days (or when i leave the car in the garage overnight instead of outside) the car is going up for sale soon i dont want to give somone an unreliable car. please advise. thanks
CHRIS.

Spark, fuel, air. The holy trinity of combustion. Given the symptoms, it's probably not air. Try to concentrate on the other two. Good luck.
