Default Odd Noise coming from left rear wheel

If I'm off throttle or coasting, the driver's side rear wheel 'creaks' pretty loudly. If I accelerate even lightly, the sound goes away. It's not a grind or a squeal. Sounds similar to metal on metal brake pad grind. It's definitely not coming from the brakes as pulling up on the handbrake doesn't change or eliminate the sound at all. What could it be? Hub? Bearing?

Correction....sound may be coming either from both sides or the center rear. I went out, drove up to about 25mph, let off the gas, put in the clutch and the noise started. Then I coasted around a left hand turn and the sound went away. As soon as I straightened the car out, the noise started back again.

Should I start shopping for differentials?

Does the noise go away when you make a right hand turn? Sounds like your rear bearings are going out.

Could be the left rear wheel bearing, but could also be the LSD. A left turn would slightly "unweight" the left wheel bearing and make the noise less but a left turn could also be reducing the LSD effort. What happens when you do a similar right turn? I would then expect the noise to return as the left wheel bearing would get more loading or the LSD to do more work in that direction.

Check this thread: http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...t=wheel+bearing

Other member's description about bad bearings sound very similar to what you're describing.

Wheel bearings and axles from the factory can't handle the drivetrain (IMO). Honda needs to make us some stronger pieces.

D, call me tomorrow.

Left hand turn off throttle = no noise
Right hand turn off throttle = noise
Striaght line off throttle = noise

Let car cool for 2 hours = no noise at all

Does this mean bearing, CV joint or something inside the pumpkin?

Could be any or all of the above. This is really hard to diagnose over the net.

Using whatever fluid Comptech pumped in there when they reinforced the diff. I'm going to drain the fluid this weekend and check for metal particles.

Coming to work this morning there was no noise whatsoever.

Thanks for all your help guys.
