Odd noise, I think others have experienced it
As I get older, and more hypochondriacal (and more paranoid), I have become aware of a noise which I think has always been around for my 36.000 miles and 5 1/2 years. It is a funny vibration, noticeable only under certain conditions as follows:
a. Speed fairly low, i.e., around 30 - 40 and of course usually in 4th gear.
b. Accelerator pedal feathered, i.e., virtually zero torque on the drivetrain. If I am applying any significant accelerator force, the noise goes away. If I am completely off the gas, and in a state of engine braking, the noise goes away.
The noise itself is a kind of buzzy vibration, which you can hear if you turn off the radio and pay attention. From previous threads [please remember that I am old, and my memory is failing], I believe that this noise is due to a vibration of the clutch housing and some associated springs, and has no functional consequences. Can anyone verify this?
I apologize for not using the search function, but a simple entry like 'noise' is unlikely to give a meaningul result, and very complicated entries like 'noise with faint accelerator pressure' seem silly.

depends on where you hear the noise. if it does sound like it's coming from the front, then it could be the clutch buzz, although this is a more common issue in the MY00-01. try to completely take your foot off the gas in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear when your rpm is around 4k rpm. in my MY01, the buzz happens between 4k-2.5k rpm and then quiets down. for me it's most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear.
