Odd Power Problem
Two months ago I thought my battery died so I brought it to Checker Auto Parts to get it replaced. The guy at Checker hooked up the battery to their diagnostic tester and it showed as completely dead. He then attempted to charge it and it accepted a charge. He finished charging it and gave the battery back saying that it was fine. For the past two months I have been driving the car around on and off (not my daily driver) with no problems. Today, I go to an appointment and try to crank the car to start it up to drive to my next destination and it won't start. I try about three more times and it won't crank over. There wasn't a clicking sound and the guage cluster lit up but turned off once I tried to turn it over. So I weigh my options and start to call a friend to come and jump me. For some reason, before the phone call connects I try to start it again and it cranks. I think wow, it is my lucky day... there was just enough juice to get the car home so I could replace the battery later. I took the battery to Checker this evening and the guy hooks it up to their diagnostic tool and it showed 44.5/50 making it not the problem.
What could the problem be where it doesn't appear again for two months and about a thousand miles?

Do your battery connectors look corroded? I had this happen to a friend's Ford Ranger. He wanted to replace the alternator and battery, but a simple cleaning and tightening of the battery connections fixed it. Same goes for the connections on the other ends of the battery cables.
Cleaned the connectors, and it started fine.
If they look fine and the other ends of the cables look fine, then I agree with JFusion, check the starter.
