Default OEM hardtop fitment

My driver side window barely grazes the hardtop when I shut the door. I've adjusted it per service manual as well as got the correct measurements for the rear gap.

I also took out all 3 shims under the front latches with no avail.

Shoot me some tips I'm impatient

1. Make sure you have hardtop latches.
2. If you have hardtop latches, take them off to remove any spacers (you already did this)
3. Make sure you have hardtop strikers.
4. Loosen all the rear bolts
5. Attach front
6. Tighten rear bolts.
7. Attach rear.

Good luck

I had to make some adjustments on mine to fit as well. Loosen all the bolts and tighten them down after you get it straight. It took me a more than once to get it right. Im thinking you dont have the correct strikers in place.

Where does it hit, on the top of the glass or towards the rear of the car? Taking out the shims will bring the top closer to the window, so you may want to put them back in.

It hits at the top of the window towards the front. I don't see how adding shims would make it further from the window, it would make the latch lower causing more of a pull on the top

I tried adjusting it per J schmidt instructions. Still no dice

I have Hardtop strikers (6 months old) and the Latches are Hardtop latches. I checked myself.

I ended up adjusting the window. Its better but not perfect.

The shims would raise the hardtop away from the window especially on the fore end. You may want to try adding more shims. I think my hardtop had 4 shims under each side when I got it.

You're understanding of this shims is completely wrong. The shims go between the hardtop latch and the hardtop, not the striker and the window frame. Adding shims decreases how much the top is pulled down towards the window.

I know where the shims go. The top is stationary. Physically take the latch and pull it down away from the top. You now have greater force pulling on the top to keep it latch.
