[QUOTE=xviper,Mar 8 2006, 11:31 PM]With only 20 psi in #4, I can't see how that one could have passed so much as a kidney stone.

How did I 'pass' the leak down test with that big of a compression problem? :\
Let me guess. The motor was overhauled between the compression test and the leak down test? Otherwise, it ain't gonna happen.

Sorry to hear that you've got major damage, but this is what happens. You gotta be careful who you let drive these things.

New update.. Ok, so.. After towing the car to a trusted Honda specialist, he found out that my exhaust valve wasn't opening and closing correctly, which he fixed. He replaced all my spark plugs and removed the carbon build up, as well as replace the clutch ( was able to fix the flywheel ), pressure plate blah blah. I had 20psi to cylinder 4, and he got it up to 140psi while my others were running at 180psi ' ish. Added some sort of cleaner to get rid of the carbon, figuring it might cure the -40psi or if it may correct itself out. Well, the new clutch was a blessing and it was driving 100% fine, drove it probably 40 miles before I got to a stop. Taking a right onto the road my car started acting up, wouldn't go into second, ( no CEL ) .. Immediately I cut the car off, and pushed it into a parking lot. No CEL, and the car will attempt to start but won't or it just clicks when I press the push start. ..... $1400 dollars later.

what kind of mechanic is this? does he practice voodoo too? maybe scientology?

after he used his magical 40psi restoring cleaner, did he even bother to check the psi in the cylinder again? they should all be I believe 185 or higher. 200+ preferably.

Tried to roll start it -- hoping it's the alternator or battery. Engine is locked. :\ .. It had been running beautifully for about 2 hours until this.

Exhibit statement #1:
trusted Honda specialist
Exhibit statement #2:
he found out that my exhaust valve wasn't opening and closing correctly, which he fixed
Exhibit statement #3:
removed the carbon build up
Exhibit statement #4:
as well as replace the clutch ( was able to fix the flywheel ), pressure plate blah blah
Exhibit statement #5:
I had 20psi to cylinder 4, and he got it up to 140psi while my others were running at 180psi ' ish
Exhibit statement #6:
figuring it might cure the -40psi or if it may correct itself out
Exhibit statement #7:
wouldn't go into second
Exhibit statement #8:
the new clutch was a blessing and it was driving 100% fine
Let's take a look at:
#2 .............. I'll bet it was a whole lot of valves and I'll bet they weren't "fixed".
#3 .............. And you believe this actually was necessary and that it actually did something to affect the outcome in a favourable way?
#4 .............. I think you paid for something that did absolutely nothing to address the original problem of a mechanical over-rev and they took you for a big ride on this one.
#5 .............. What did he use to get it up to 140? Maple syrup?
#6 .............. Yup, screwed up valves "may correct itself out" from a carbon clean.
#7 .............. It's look like they botched your clutch job, too.
#8 .............. Do you still think it's a "blessing"? And 100% fine?
And now let's go back to #1 .................. You know that "trusted" part? What do you think now?

I've seen some pretty naive people in my life and many of those fell off a turnip truck yesterday, but in this particular case, there was no "falling off" going on. Somebody SHOT you out of a canon off the turnip truck THIS MORNING!
You was had!

But how will he know? He can't tell a "trusted Honda specialist" from a complete idiot.

to start,

post in your REGIONAL FORUM that you are looking for a trustworthy honda dealership to fix your car. find out from owners here who have had good previous experiences with shops in your area.

then, take your car there, and get it fixed.

the "trusted honda mechanic" you just used ripped you off big time.

This thread can't be for real.
After reading through this forum, either my guess is that either
1. People that buy S2000s don't even know what a spark plug is
2. People who post some of these questions have never had a car before the s2000.
