Use low profile ramps to get it up, or extend your ramps w/ something.
I usually use ramps myself; however, I used a floor jack today. I don't readily have acess to a floor jack, so when I do it by myself, I use my ramps.

To get the 7/8's on the Amsoil filters I use:
-Spin the filter till the rubber touches
-Place a tic mark on the filter with a marker
-Spin again till the mark comes w/i about 90% of initial position
