Default Oil Change

I was talking with a buddy regarding the fact that the last two oil changes I have noticed some TCT sound, that seems to get a bit louder after the oil change. During this discussion he asked if I topped the new filter off with oil (i.e. filled the filter as much as I could with new oil before putting it back on). His thought was that by not, with the size of the S2k filters there would be a pretty good gap in the oil on the 1st start. Well needless to say I have never done this with any of my Hondas and I have done litterally 100+ oil changes, mostly because Honda filters are a PITA to begin with. However, thinking about it his theory seems pretty logical, infact I think I will start adding some oil into the filter from now on just for good measures.

I guess my question is, does anyone top off the filter before installing it? Any thoughts on if by not doing this there could be any negative effect on the engine?

if you dont, chances are you wont damage much but you ARE running "dry" for a few seconds...obviously if you're using quality oil the few seconds will do nothing since there is still a layer left

Top it off or at least put enough in there to saturate the filter element.
