Oil Change Issue
why does honda specify 5.1qt anyways??? 5.1 pretty much gets you to the L mark on the dipstick.....
i wonder how many honda dealerships put in 5.1qt....and then people drive around with this much oil until the next oil change......

hand tighten and give it a firm nudge with the filter wrench. personally, i torque it to specs. two ppl at Fall colors had their filters spinoff. one guy lost an engine..
if you drive hard, more than hand tighten

Let me clarify the following:
Correct oil checking - If you do an oil change and then fire up the engine to get the oil filter filled and get the oil flowing around and then shut the engine down, that "not so warm" oil will take a long time to come back down into the pan. It will read low at this time. Just know that about 5 qts will suffice till you can do a "proper" check either after the oil has fully heated up and given a couple minutes to flow back down or do the check first thing in the morning after it has sat unused overnight.
Oil drain - Again, if you've just started up a cold engine to move it to where you drain the oil, a lot of it will hang up and you won't need as much to do the change unless you leave it drain for a long time. If you do a HOT drain and leave it drain for an hour or so, you'll get most of it to fall out and you'll need more oil to do the change.
Even with a complete drain, this car will only take around 5.5 qts to get to "full". Of course, this will vary slightly depending upon the kind of filter you use.
