Just let it flow with the X-brace in place...

Wipe up any residue after replacing the drain bolt.

You want to make it more complicated? How about changing the oil with an X-Brace and a SC oil return hose fitting...

Grab the filter from the top...it's how I always do it. The only reason to lift the car is to get under it enough to access the drain plug. I just unscrew the filter, turn it over to drain some of the oil out and then lift it through the top. It's a little complicated by the STB, but not difficult...

I attempted to change mine with the brace on.... i just jack up one side of the car (passenger) to reach the oil plug, then lower it to let it drain.... then raise it a small amount to get the plug back in.....

of course the oil pooled into the X-brace then ran down the brace and dripped on my garage floor...not a bunch, but...

I did have to remove my strut tie bar unless i wanted to drop the filter down which would have created more messes.

Next time I will just take it to jiffy lube and let them spill oil all over my entire engine..

Or you can use the pump to suck out your oil...Works fine for me...
