I have a 00 with 46k and it uses no oil at all but my 02 with 50k miles used a quart every 1,000 miles or so. The 00 compression is about 250 on all 4 and the 02 was around 175 across if I remember right.

Has anyone done a pole on compression numbers compared to oil consumption on AP1 cars? It would be interesting to see if higher compression AP1s use less oil or not then that of lower compression AP1s.
My cold compression numbers from this spring were ~240-250 across the board with 197k miles. Also running a brand new PCV. She's thirsty regardless.

Summary:

- you're gonna have to check oil very frequently. Get used to it
- change your pcv, see if it helps
- change oil brand, see if it helps
- either way, get used to higher rate of oil consumption

A quart every 400 miles seems excessive... If that were normal for a car from mile 0 to mile 200k that would be an extra $3,500 ish in oil costs

I would try using M1 0w-40 instead and see if consumption goes down.
