Default Oil consumption, I searched

Hey guys... I have a 01 with 41k on the body and 2100 on the motor.....I went outside today and checked the oil...I noticed I was about 2 quarts low...Id say it burned a good 2 quarts in about 1000 miles....is this normal or is it because the motor was just rebuilt or what? It has no mods and it dosent smoke at all....Im using mobil 1 senthetic 10-30....any recomendations?

2 QTs at 1k miles seems pretty high..I go through about 1QT of Mobil per 1000 miles with mild driving style.

I heard that our cars burn more synthetic oil than regular dino oil

Yup, I use Mobil 1 10w30 and also use about a quart every 1k miles. I'm going to try a different synthetic this spring when I change just to see what difference it makes...

2 quarts / 1000 miles is excessive. 1 qt / 1000 miles is not too uncommon. I go through about 0.5 qt / 1500 miles ever since I switched to synth. You can buy some krankvents which seem to help a lot with oil consumption. In the mean time, check your oil EVERY TIME you fill up the gas, or more.

I'm on my second engine (broken spark plug claimed the first) and my car never really burns an appreciable amount of oil. I normally change it every 3k, and when I check it the level is almost exactly where it was when I filled it It seems that everyone else that owns an S has issues with oil consumption- did I just get really lucky?

Most of us avoided the Mobil 1 or other synthetics until 10,000 miles. The rings seat better with dino oil.

Always check your oil frequently. If you (and I suggest you do) read the owners manual they recommend checking with each gasoline purchase.
Obviously a good idea as can be seen by your loss of a quart since checking.
