I agree with vtec9. Krankvents might be a pretty good option for you.

I've installed them on my '03 which burnt about qt/3000miles. So far in about 2000 miles, it looks like I've burned none at all. Your car may be an extreme case, but for the 110 bucks for the krankvents, it could save you another rebuild.

With a recent engine rebuild, it isn't surpising that you have high oil consumption. I suggest you gauge your oil consumption over several thousand miles - you'll get a better picture of what it actually is.

You should really change your oil to a conventional oil (non-synthetic). Otherwise, it will take longer for your rings to seat and for your oil consumption to stabilize.

VTEC engines didn't have luck with Mobil 1 and I will suggest you guys to stay away from it. I never heard anyone who uses Mobil 1 and not buring engine oil. If you ever been through Mobil 1 (1 time) and if the engine started to burn oil then you are pretty much done, whatever oil you use later will not help to stop the burning.

I have expierences with Motul 8100 /300V, Royal Purple, Redline, Honda ULTRA, Pennzoil Syn, Castrol Syntech and they don't burn.

Go back to dino oil. If you're doing some aggressive driving, consider installing the krankvents. A rebuilt engine should be treated like a new engine.

Do not use any Lucas Oil Treatment. If you do a search, you should find plenty of discussion on the subject. You might want to consider adding some Moly (IIRC, Mr. Moly was an option). You can do a search on this as well.

If this were my engine, I'd just switch to dino and keep some distance from redline until the oil consumption comes down - I would expect this to take a few thousand miles (I tend to take a conservative approach). Remember - high RPM driving tends to increase oil consumption.

Not a lot of experience here, but I must also be a lucky one. I've not noticed any drop in my oil level for the month I've had my 03. I'm loving it, even though I feel like I'm living in Seattle with all of the rain the past few weeks here in Houston.

I'm not really sure that Mobil1 causes consumption. Mobil1 is definitely on the thin side of a 30 weight and also being synthetic makes it more prone to burning. Aggressive driving would also increase the likelihood of burning oil.

In any event, as others have suggested go back to using dino. Halvoline 10w30 is a good conventional oil with a higher dose of Moly(which most Honda engines seem to like as a friction reducer) than most other dinos.
