You say: "only local brands"
What brand?
Or have thay bottled oil that they drilled for themselves in their backyard?
Put it in an old Cola bottle, label it with a home made label saying nothing else than SAE 90 GL-5?

C'mon...

Serious: if quality is a question go for the SAE 140.
Drive conservatively for 10 miles or so during cold (@ freezing temps - IF the temps drop that low where you live) mornings.

Produced from premium crudes
Dino oil.
On the website of Plogco I found some specs of the SAE 90 / 140 gear oil they make for several brands (all links from different brands showed the same specs)

Code:
CHARACTERISTICS TYPICAL VALUE
.....................90 - 140
Sp. Gravity @ 15o C 0.901 - 0.913
Viscosity @ 40o C, cSt 220 - 460
Viscosity @ 100o C. cSt 19 - 31
Viscosity Index .......97 - 95
Flash Point, COC, oC...268 - 292
Pour Point, oC ....... -6 -6
This is not your typical 75W-90 diff water @ 19 cSt.
Its not LE-607 either. (that is the red oil)

You've got enough for at least 4 changes.
I would change it out every 10k km or once a year.

Looks good enough to me. I agree with the 10K OCI too. They use this for motor oil too? Interesting. I would think a different addititive package would be desired/reqiured for a high compression IC motor.
