Honda specifies for and manufactures an oil filter solely for the S2000 (15400-PCX-004). It's a larger diameter than the "other" OEM Honda filter, which is used for every Honda except the S2000. It likely also has a specific oil bypass valve for the F20C/F22C.

Don't use anything else for the S2000. But hey, what does Honda know, they only manufactured the car.

That filter does not rely on metal to metal contact so it will probably spin loose and toast your engine.
But go ahead and try it, maybe you are lucky. It's just an engine so it's cheap to replace

Size of the filter be dammed. The most important feature of the recommended OEM filter is the construction of the TWO metal rings with the O ring sandwiched between. That is why there is this torque or (8/9 of a turn) that cannot be accomplished by hand if done properly. This is unlike the filter pictured above that used a hand tightened 3/4 turn with only the rubber gasket sealing the filter. With the recommended OEM filter you get metal to metal contact with oil filter face. This prevents it becoming loose and causing a fire or engine oil starvation from a leak.
Oil leaks are the number 1 cause of S2000 engine fires.
