Default Oil filter backing off

My oil filter backed off and the smoke put the fear in me. It takes forever to wipe the oil off the undercarriage.

I looked at the offering from J's for keeping the filter in place ($60+)
and decided to make my own.

Total cost was $2.60.

This must have something to do with having a forced induction/high horsepower engine because I've never had this happen and mine is always tight when installed per Helm's.

Nice solution btw.

I can add some info here.....

The PCX filter for the S2000 uses metal to metal contact to achieve it's torque, unlike 98% of all other oil filters.

Basically, you cannot use the gasket to keep it tight.

You have to tighten it with a wrench, like a bolt. Unless you use gorilla force with your hands, you MIGHT be ok.

I've seen 4 come off first hand, read about 4 or 5.

the K & N 's have a hole in the bottom nut to safety wire them, If you don't know how to safety wire look up aircraft safety wiring and get a pair of pliers and a roll of wire, sold many places.

I use Puralotor PureOne and they are a bitch to get off. Change from the Honda filter and see if you still have the problem.

hey sideways, i know you do good work, so i am not questioning your ability.

did you use a torque wrench and tighten to 16 ft lbs or did you tighten using the manuals suggested counting method, or did you just wing it?

only reason i ask is because i use a torque wrench and want to make sure i have nothing to worry about. if you used a torque wrench then i need to worry.

advise and thanks for the bracket pictures, looks good!

Years ago there were a ton of postings on this. Just hand check it when you check your oil.
