Oil filter question/loose oil filters

This has gone on long enough! Step away from the strap wrench. Spend the $6 on the A257 oil filter wrench listed by several earlier posters (in stock at AutoZone or Walmart) and tighten the oil filter 7/8 turn if you don't have a torque wrench which is no more than $20 at Harbor freight and often on sale for $10. That's the same torque wrench you should be using for the engine, gearbox, and differential fill and drain plugs, and the spark plugs (unless you're guessing at these as well).
I'm beginning to think you have some emotional attachment to the strap wrench. Deal with it!

The last couple oil filter marks are difficult to get to hand tight as the metal edge of the oil filter needs to butt up tight to the mount base. That ensures proper outward force is put on the filter so it will remain tight and no risk having if spin off. I have to say the Honda oil filter wrench is just about as perfect of a design as you can get, well worth the money.

Brought the car to my uncle's he used his tool and we got it to between 4 and 5 so that would be like... 6.5/8th a turn? He is a diesel mechanic and told me that filter is on there good.

I use the strap wrench all the time to good effect. Never ran into a filter I couldn't undo with one. Even the cartridge filters.

Ok, so someone with zero experience with oil filters of this design says its good enough?

As I said he is a diesel mechanic for pepsi and he has owned nothing but Hondas over the years and done engine swaps. I trust him. and the extra .5 of a turn I think isn't going to make a massive difference.
