Another oil thread

Its fine to use that oil in your S2000 but I recommend a full synthetic variant of the same weight or 5W40. Do you get Motul oil? Give their 8100 Xcess or Xclean 5W40 a go - 100% synthetic.

Yeah, it's been 3 or 4 days since someone asked if 10W-30 is good or "best" oil for the S2000. It's specified in the owner's manual, of course, but...

10W-30 is 10W-30, the engine doesn't care or know what's there. Dino, blend, or full synthetic; Walmart or Amsoil (cures cancer) is still 10W-30. We all have preferences both rational and irrational.

No, "only" Group III. Motul just lost at court here in germany and was convicted to re-label the X-CESS 5w-40 from "Fully Synthetic" (Group IV) to "Synthese technologie" = Group III.

A very good oil nevertheless!

I am just puzzled that a big company like Motul has done the mistake of wrong labeling in Germany, where laws about labeling of engine oil are strikt and oil companys sue each other for misslabeling.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I can't believe it! All this time I believed that they were being 100% truthful. It is a great oil though. Is the X-CLEAN variant of the 5W40 fully synthetic? How about the 5W30 version for X-CESS?
Since you're in Germany you would know Liqui Moly well - are their full synth oils really full synth?

I've been running the Motul Xcess for a while as well and I'm not surprised, that oil is way to cheap to be a true group IV.
Thank you germans for bringing out the truth

@ Rolan Thunder: All the Motul 8100 series are not labeld full-syn (Group IV) anymore here in Germany.

Liqui Moly only has 5 real fullsyn = Group IV oils here in germany:

- Synthoil Longtime Plus 0w-30
- Synthoil Race tech GT1 10w-60
- Synthoil Longtime 0w-30
- Synthoil Hight tech 5w-40
- Synthoil Energy 0w-40

I dont know if this oils are sold worldwide with the exact same name. But they are the expensievest.

Most other LM oils are "Syntheses technologie" = Group III.
If you like, i could do some screen shots from the german Motul or LM Homepage. If you log in from annother country the Hompeages sometimes differ.

I think any oil reputable brand oil carrying Porsche A 40 / MB 229.1,3,5 / ACEA A3/B3+B4 / BMW LL01 Approval is more than good enough for our Engines and much better than all oils back in the 1990s when the engine was developed.

But of course, it the label states "Full syn" i want to have the real deal fo my money. Surprisingly only in germany the law for labeling oil ist so strikt.
