Default Oil... How much and how often?

Well I have this really bad rod knock, or valve tap, or TCT knock/tap noise that just annoys the hell out of me. But whatever the noise is, when I ad oil it pretty much goes away. Well I was just wandering how often do you guys top off your oil? When you top it off how much are you putting in? Is it like my car where as it runs on oil, or does it stay pretty full till the next oil change? I just want to get an idea of my engines health based on the average S2000. We could all learn a thing or two about our on S from this I would think.

You're asking what determines when the average owner adds oil and how often? This has been covered before:

When the oil is below the H mark on a hot read, you should add oil until it reads H on the dipstick. Check every time you fill up if your car is known to burn oil.

Honda specifies that a quart of oil burned per 1000 miles is acceptable.

For your valvetrain noise; you should have it checked by a mechanic. This could indicate the valves are loose, and the engine could regain some performance by having the clearances adjusted.

I check mine weekly (along with all other fluids) and top up as necessary.

Ok yea, I kinda got the idea as to how to check and fill my cars oil, but it seems to need it at about the two/three week mark. For all the cars I have previously owned this just seems pretty fast. Just wandering how often everyone else is filling theirs up... and about how much when they do top off. Simple enough?

Perform a search on "burning oil". After reading the threads in the results, you'll find the answer to your question is "it varies from car to car". Some folks will complain about their cars almost literally drinking oil (a quart every 500 miles), while others' cars have never burned a drop in the 100,000 miles they've owned the car.

I go 6k miles between oil changes with Mobil1. I don't have to top it off.

Added about 1/2 qt Mobil1 after 4000 mi. Still haven't hit 10k so not a lot of history. From my readings of the posts, most check on every 2nd fill-up, AP1's burn more than AP2's and more VTEC = more oil.
