Default Oil level hard to read on the dipstick

I've done searching, maybe I haven't used the correct key words.

I just changed my oil and put in 5 3/4 quarts of Honda 10W30 synthetic blend. It's very hard to tell how much oil I have on the dip stick, it's almost clear. My '06 NFR has 29000 miles and the oil that I changed was pretty clean, only slightly brown.

Anyone else have this trouble seeing where the oil level is on the dip stick? I tried using a shop towl paper towl and slowly move it down and see where it starts to get wet.

I found it hard to read when I did my first oil change. I put 5qts in, ran it for a min then tried to check and was having a hard time getting a consistent reading. I let it sit for a few hours and came back and it was much easier. It was also full with just 5qts, although the car was at an angle when I drained it so I'm guessing that caused a little of the old oil to not drain out.

Since then I just check it cold.

Yeah I did lower it again to more fully drain it, plus let it drain for almost an hour.

Wipe it off and then put it on a clean paper towel. The oil will stain the towel and you can see where the level is.

The S2000 dipstick is one of the easiest to read IMO.

Try a VQ35 (G35 or 350z). Those are impossible.

My car has 95k miles, and I still have this problem everytime I change the oil. For the first 2k miles afterwards oil is so clean its very difficult to read dipstick.

I've posted about it, and got the same suggestions you got here.
