Thumbs down Oil level question

I am low on oil.

I am Turbocharged right. Well I also have an Oil filter relocation to it. Fine. The F22C takes around 5.5 to 6 quarts of 10w30 synth. What I don't fully understand is why the dipstick and such a bitch.

(I have attemped doing both of these methods 10 to 20 times!)

I have Done a cold check when I wake up in the morn. Inconsistant.
I have dont a warm check, waited 10 minutes after, checked. Inconsistant.

Leveled ground on all guys. This can not be as hard as it seems for me.

The drivers side is higher in level showing various levels every other time I dip it.
Somestimes it shows 3 "X"s sometimes just 1 "X" above the L.
While the passangers side level shows a even lower level of 1 "X" ALL the time. Mabey it jumps to 2 "X" after the 10th time I have dipped my stick inside.

What am I reading wrong and how much oil do I need to add? When can I check the oil to get the most proper reading? I do not want to over fill or risk of getting the dreadded Oil light on the dash.

I am not a engineering genius, but I am not slouch. HELP.

The engine is sitting in the chassi on a angle, the oil in the pan is level so there will be a difference from one side of the dipstick to the other, I keep mine within one X of the high mark.

I think you'll be fine as long as either side of the dipstick isn't below the L. When I fill/check, I aim in the middle of L and H. Regardless of which dipstick side reads it.

the side thats lower should be the side to read

because if the oil level is higher than both sides be high.. alot of times the side thats high is just rubbed on when inside the tube since oils in the tube

Yep, really. No harm in simply looking at the side that reads lower. As long as that side's fine, you know you' re ok.

Not with this engine. Low side wins.

i have the same problem. i can never tell if the oil is low or not. even on the "high" side the level is inconsistent. a bit frustrating because i dont want to overfill either
