Default Oil life remaining

I pressed the trip button on my instrument cluster, and for the oil life it read 70% (I currently have 2100 on the odo)...is that 70% remaining, or is it the opposite??? Thanx!!!

I would say that is how much you have left. First oil change is at 7000 I believe.

2100/(1-.7) = 7000

Drive it for a while longer and see what percentage it says later. That'll tell you which way it runs. Too easy.

Did you get a owners manual with the new car? If so, what does it say about your oil computer percentage?

My advise is... CHECK your oil level under the hood instead of keep looking at the oil % gauge your engine oil level will drop to the lowest level before you get 0%, which mean you should have your 1st oil change before 0% no matter how many % you at now. *like my case was around 5~10%

I agree that you should constantly be checking you oil level and making sure that it does not get below the "add" mark. Your oil change is NOT dependent upon where the oil level is or how much your engine burns it. Change it according to what you owner's manual says. It will explain the "oil minder" thing and it will also say something about changing at the one year mark if the oil minder doesn't say to do it. The only thing that seems to be "ROCKET SCIENCE" is the fact that some people simply don't know how to read the owner's manual.
