Have you checked your oil?

That light would indicate low oil pressure

Where are you located that the dealer suggested using 10w-40? What is you weather like? I have actually been thinking of trying 10w-40 in the S.

I have had this problem since i went from my old oil (which apparently isn't made anymore) to the 10W-40 castrol magnatec. Now every time i turn on the engine the light will come on for 1/4 to 1/2 a second then turn off straight away... I know my oil level is correct its just that it can't be that healthy EVERY time i turn the engine on to not have instant oil pressure!

10W40 is really too thick for any relatively stock AP1 or AP2 for temps below 45C-50C. So unless you live in the Middle East or in Death Valley - there really is no reason to run a 40 weight oil.

5W30 is fine for colder climates (frequently below freezing), but 10W30 is what the engine is designed to run in almost all temperatures.

The flickering oil press light is because your car is not able to circulate the 10W40 immediately - because it's too thick, especially at colder temps. That means your car is staved of oil flow at one of the most critical times - immediately following start-up.
Change to a 5W30 if the temps are very cold, or a 10W30 and this should stop.

Before anyone chimes in on this one... regardless of what some may think - a 10W30 and 10W40 are not the same thickness when cold. A 10W30 is thinner.
Go to any oil manufacturers website and compare the specs for their 10W30 and 10W40 and you'll see there is a difference.
