Default Oil light came on..

I was driving today, 50mph in 5th, and the oil light came on as I was switching lanes. I immediately turned off the motor and coasted to a side street. I popped the hood, checked the oil, it was fine, between the high mark and the top X. oil filter was on, and wasnt leaking.. I sat for a few minutes, then started it up. idled for 30 seconds, gave it a little bit of gas, and the light didnt return. Drove it soft for a few miles and no light, softly took it to 6.5k to see if VTEC would kick in, so it did, which makes me think there is no oil pressure issue now. Motor has 9k on it. Was this just a freak thing? thanks

i doubt it could have been a freak thing. could have been anything..pump, sender unit, pickup, bearings, oil jets....honestly, i would try and get it to a shop that you trust, to have everything looked over. it might be fine now, but soon, or down the road, your engine can possibly call it quits. does the engine have the updated oil jets in it?

To take a load off your mind, first determine that you have the correct oil pressure. If it's within normal range, it probably is a bad sensor.
