Default oil pressure thread size. 1/8BSP, is it tapered or pararell?

Guys,

looking to see if I can mount my defi oil sensor exactly where the OEM sensor is.

Defi oil sensor is 1/8PT, otherwise known as 1/8BSPT.

I have searched for hours on here and can see the thread size is 1/8BSP. However BSP is just the family name for that type of thread. Is it BSPT (tapered) or BSPP (Parallel) ?

Once I get the answer to this, I can then either mount the oil sensor off the block since its lightweight, otherwise run braided hose of the block utilises a parallell thread..

THanks

ANSWER:

It is Parallel.

BSP = BSPP, BSSPI, BSPF, BSPG, PS, R, G.

lol, so many incorrect posts on this forum.

Honestly not sure if the oil pressure port is now EITHER 1/8BSP (BSPP) or 1/8BSPT....

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/882...l/page__st__25

Two people including a vendor posts that it is 1/8BSPT....

Then a DC5/RSX over on clubrsx also confirms it is 1/8 BSPT......

I remember you need an adapter, most gauges are npt, threads on block are bspt. I was corrected by someone very knowledgeable on this sort of thing.

Thanks
Yes most gauges are 1/8npt

However my defis are jap and are thus 1/8pt. This means it is 1/8bspt so I will plug my defi pressure sensor straight in if the threads on the block are tapered....

Read my post in this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/822...auge-question/

I have had an oil pressure sender hooked up this way for about twelve years without any problems.

hey mate, i seen your thread. I understand the braided hose setup.

My issue is there is much confusion with 50/50 split of people saying it is either BSP (BSPP) or BSPT. I have even found other websites showing the honda oem part and matching part number, and two websitesshowing different info, either BSP or BSPT lol!

Best thing to do is bring up close shots of the threads and see if it is parallel or tapered...

Quick Reply: oil pressure thread size. 1/8BSP, is it tapered or pararell?
