jjost15,

The oil pump is located at the bottom end of the engine inside the oil pan. According to the service manual for Ap1, pages 8-8 through 8-12 show the steps for removing and servicing the oil pump. It states that the cam chain, oil pump chain tensioner, baffle plate all have to be removed after removing the oil pan, just to get the oil pump removed.

What is your reason for removing the oil pump?

No need to pull motor.

The service manual says you will need to pull the CYLINDER HEAD for this job, but you dont have to.

You need to pull the oil pan and front timing cover to do the oil pump.

It will take moderate skill level, this is no easy task.

You will also be working upside down when cleaning the cylinder head and making it ready for sealer.

The timing cover will need to be slipped up and under the head just right, so you get the sealer right.

you will also need the honda crank holding tool, and a very strong breaker bar, and someone who is stronger than that to break the front crank pulley bolt loose.

Why are you replacing it? These pumps don't go out, if you have low oil pressure there is most likely another cause.

A very large piece of debris was dropped in the road by a flatbed truck. The oil pump was physically cracked in half so its trashed with a doubt. I just cant seem to get the new one back on. Im starting to think this is a fight for another day i need some reinforcements lol
