Default Oil recommendation for ap2

I've noticed with my 06, that I have been losing about 1/2 quart of oil between changes (5500 miles) I use amsoil signature series 10w30 and have used it since 60,000 miles. Does anyone here think that I can eliminate oil consumption by changing to 5w40 sig series?
Ive always been skeptical about thicker oil than 10/30... Just a thought. I know the consumption isn't very high at this point, but I would like to stop it, without damaging the engine.
111000 miles, intake/exhaust/lwfw and ACT HD PP. tuned on flashpro.

Thanks!

don't worry. keep on the signature amsoil. if you have a debate, just try the 5w40 and see what happens. maybe do an oil sample before changing the oil and then after using the 5w40 for 5,500 miles.

My SiR civic uses 1/2 quart between changes and always has in my 17 years of ownership.

if I switch to 5w40 would it cause harm changing back to 10w30 should it not yield results I need? I like to keep oil the same.

Keep the oil the same. Very good quality stuff. Keep topped off. Change at recommended intervals. Use OEM filter. You'll be good to go.

Stick with the factory spec (10W-30).

1/2 quart between changes is fine. The level is between the marks all the time. There is no reason to keep it at the top mark all the time other than the warm fuzzy feeling it gives you. The car takes a bit over 5 quarts on a change. Save the extra partial bottle to keep it topped up between changes if you want.

From the owners manual:
Remove the dipstick again, and
check the level. It should be
between the upper and lower
marks.

If it is near or below the lower mark,
see adding engine oil on page...

1/2 a quart every oil change really isn't all that bad, but it would bug me too, especially since the ap2 is supposed to consume less oil. It's either leaking or being burned. Any signs of blue smoke at all? I used to have an e46 that had bad valve seals and it burned through a lot of oil. A friend recommended a bottle of ATP 205 re-seal, and it immensely improved the sealing. I'm typically very skeptical about all these snake oils on the market, but this stuff is proven. It took about 8-10 hours of daily driving to notice the effects. Consider also running your next oil change with Rotella T6 oil. There's plenty of info on this oil in more or less any car forum you visit; it's fairly popular and I think good to run at least once on a higher mileage engine. Again, 1/2 a quart of loss isn't bad, but you can try these two potential solutions. You don't really have to go out of your way for them.

You're trying to fix a problem that isn't there. Usage of 1qt per 11K miles is the issue you're attempting to resolve.

That being said, I'm not a believer in "stick with ONLY one oil". Try whatever you want. Seems that Castrol 0W30, 0W40, and 10W30 seem to curb some peoples' oil consumption problems.

5W40 isn't going to hurt your car either. If you're using G4 synthetic, then the consumption won't go up over time due to the bigger delta in cold/operating temp weight.

Its just oil. Try whatever you want.

I have a MY00 that I've owned 11 years. 85K miles. I've tracked it at an average of 1 track day per 1000 street miles at one point. I've driven it to CA and back to IL on 3 track day old Castrol GTX. Ive tried several types, weights, and brands of oil. Its never burned off more than 1/2 to 1qt every (whenever interval) oil change that I use.

So...you're not going to hurt the car....
