Oil in spark plugs

Default Oil in spark plugs

Hey guys i went to go change my spark plugs today and i pulled out the plugs and had oil on them is this normal if not what could be causing this. I just had my valve cover swapped out could the gasket be the problem or something from installing it wrong???

If it's on the top of the plug then the valve cover seals are bad. If it's on the electrode side, you may have badly worn rings.

come to find the spark plug covers werent in the valve cover. not before i put the new spark plugs in should i drain out the oil if so how do i get it out

if you didn't have spark plug tube gaskets I think the tubes would have been flooded with oil. You likely just had a leak in them, I like to change them out any time the valvecover is removed and I don't trust re-using them. To dry out the oil try stuffing rags into the tubes , use needle nose pliers to pull out the rags, keep doing this until the tubes are dry.
