Is it any good? That's cool to know that at least it has some sort of oil cooler as I plan on tracking this car fairly extensively.
I think someone alluded to this point earlier. The water temps tend to rise more quickly than oil temps after a cold start. So in this sense, it's more of an oil "warmer". However, it's only reasonable to say that once the oil temps get past the coolant temps, that the little water jacket will heat exchange in the opposite direction, but I doubt it's big enough to act as an effective oil cooler even though that's what it does under those circumstances.

Does the S2000 have a stock oil cooler? Is there no issues with tracking an S2000 at a high-speed road course running the pi** out of the motor? Is there a difference between using conventional and synthetic as far as protection from high oil temp when referring to the S2000?
The small water/oil cooler/warmer is adequate for most track outings. I have seen many S2000's run hard 25 - 35 minutes sessions with no issues.

Synthetic oil specs show that they are far better at high temperature.

I have not monitored oil temps but have carefully examined OBD logs showing coolant temps from track sessions. At a longish track like TWS it is easy to see the coolant temp rise on the long straight as the engine is under continuous load (while the intake temp drops with the fast airflow) and the opposite happens in the turns. Coolant temps on my car (Mugen thermo, cap, and switch but stock radiator) ranges from ~185F in the turns to ~205F at the end of the straight during a strong lap with ambient temp about 90F. I would expect oil temps to run 25F - 45F higher.

The stock car only needs brake pads to be great fun for most DE days, even on relatively fast long courses. Fast running on high banks or very long sessions may demand more prep.

Thanks, cdelena. That is what I needed to hear. Good to know the S2000 can take the abuse that I'll dish at her doing some DE track events at TWS, MSR, etc. starting in the next few months.

I'll do synthetic motor oil and Motul brake fluid, plus maybe pads and go for it.
