Default Oil temps?

I just installed the whole cooler setup with remote filter mount and 19 row radiator
I'd like to know what some of your temps are

Reason im asking is because last night I took the car out for several hardcore pulls and my gauge registered around 230 degrees Farenheit.

If i recall i drove for about 20 min a coupla nights ago and i think i saw about 210 temps.

BTW I actually hooked up my temp sensor on the filter remote mount on the Out port so in other words im reading the oil temp as the oil comes outta the engine.

I have Earls oil thermostat.

So, your reading it before it gets cooled? I would think 230 would be ok...I mean normal coolant operating temp is 210 with stock thermostat, fan switches, etc. And the two should be fairly close with the engine operating under normal conditions

Typical oil temp on the street is around 180 to 200 degrees. High temp on the track is about 250.

yes im reading the temp as it comes out the engine via a sensor mounted on my Ford filter remote mount.

I was going to switch the sensor to the IN port that leads into the engine after the cooler but my sensor is a 3/8"sensor, the Earl's thermostat only has 1/8PT holes. so now I can't compare.

Since the normal coolant temperature is 190F, I would not expect oil temps to be that low. Normally the oil temps are higher than the coolant temps and since the stock oil cooler also works as a warmer the lowest you will find the oil temp is at the coolant temp. I would expect oil temp to run 210F - 240F normally.

Does the S2000 have a stock oil cooler? Is there no issues with tracking an S2000 at a high-speed road course running the pi** out of the motor? Is there a difference between using conventional and synthetic as far as protection from high oil temp when referring to the S2000?

I should have made it more clear. Those are my typical oil temps. I have a mocal oil cooler on the car. Oil temps on the track were a significant problem with my setup until I put the cooler on.

It's that little water jacket around the base of the oil filter.

Is it any good? That's cool to know that at least it has some sort of oil cooler as I plan on tracking this car fairly extensively.

I thought the basic function of the standard exchanger was to more quickly heat up the oil during start up / cold weather..

it's only going to work as a cooler if the oil temp is significantly hotter than the water.. and based on what I have seen, it can't be that effective in cooling..

I was pretty shocked to see 120deg C oil temps on a faster track session (85mph average).. even though the water was steady at 80C (big radiator/vented bonnet) it was not cooling the oil obviously..

I can't imagine what temps the other stock Honda's were running with standard cooling set up.
