oil too clean to read dipstick
There is another thread with a guy using Royal Purple with the same issue I always have. When I change the oil its so clean and clear its all but impossible to read the dipstick. I'm using the full synthetic German Castrol Syntec 0W30.
Never had this issue with any other car, and my S has 85K miles on it. I guess there are worse problems to have than a car with more than a few miles that still has oil spotless oil.
But its such a pain to check the oil, contorting to try to hold the dipstick in just the right light, while trying not to let it run and change the reading. Trying to wipe it from the top down to see where the wet part starts to try and read it that way.
When the oil gets some miles and starts to get dirty it gets a lot easier. But with fresh oil its, well its a pain.
Does everyone else have this issue? What tricks do you use to check your too clean to see oil?

I know it can be a pain, but... If you physically put in the 5.1 quarts... And don't have your oil pan bolt off, then you know the oil is in there. I've never used royal purple, I always use Mobil 1 full synthetic and It's visible enough to determine the level, so I guess it's something you'll have to deal with unless your change brands.
Some oils come out of the bottle a bit darker which helps. I know exactly what you mean though, I find it really hard to read the dipstick with fresh oil. I use a magnifying glass some times and hold the diptstick in the bright sun. I have also used those blue paper shop towels and lay the dipstick on the towels to measure where the wet mark starts and ends.

I had the same issue when using Castrol Edge. Was a huge pain in the ass to read the stick until the oil got a bit dirty. I use AMSOIL now and that oil is a bit darker and easier to see.
