Default Old oil issue

So I just got my car back from the shop after having it sit for a year waiting to find a new trans and clutch.

Anyways the oil was obviously over a year old it was mobil one and it had 3600m on the oil ready to be changed. So I gave the shop a new jug of oil to replace the oil since they had to drain the oil when pulling the ctsc, well the next day after getting the car back finaly I ran it to 8k just for one quiick rush and boom knocking only if its reved to 1k non at idle.

So I check the oil and its pure black and on the L on the stick and I drove it less then 40m, could that have caused lack of lub leading to bearing failure

Well, I doubt whether the oil was really that bad. What was bad was letting used oil sit in the sump for that long. If you've ever seen the bottom of a used oil container after used oil has sat in it for an extended period of time, you would know what I'm talking about. The oil should have been changed before you let it sit for that long.

Getting a used oil analysis done to see what the TAN, Oxidation, Nitration, H2O, Glycol, fuel% and TBN numbers are for the oil won't help your situation much now. But I would probably get one done just out of curiosity.
