Default one time coolant overflow ....only happend once

So I had my car towed home the other night after my temps went up and coolant was overflowing out of my overflow. Following day I reflushed the coolant and went for some VERY hard drives for over an hr and couldn't replicate it (happily ) At first I thought it was my head gasket or tstat or a leak in my lines, but now that I can't get it to replicate I'm wondering what the heck it was.

Right before it happend I put the air on defrost no fan power and put the recirc on (I had a lot of hot air comming out of the vents and I was trying to not have so much air blow on me). This was the first time I ever did that.

Speaking with some experts the thought is there may have been a pocket in my system any other thoughts? Anyone else ever have this happen?

Pockets just don't happen in a normally operating cooling system. I cannot think of any plausible situation that would cause these symptoms other than a blown head gasket. I would do a compression check or pressure check your cooling system to eliminate that possibility.

I'm going to assume a boosted s2k w/ a blown head gasket wouldnt survive a "very" hard hour long drive without some obvious knocking going on

so i just went out to go to the supermarket and car overheated. This is about a 5mile drive not even. I pulled over let the car cool down drove it 1/2 way home and parked it. I will wait till the am and drive it back the rest of the way. The car was still warming up the oil temps just hit 180. I did try to put the air on hot full blast but there was no hot air comming out. I just don't understand how this happend on fri, then was fine on sunday and tonight it's screwed up again. I really hope it's not my head gasket, but since it was fine on sun it seems like the H.G. is fine. Perhaps the water pump or tstat is more likely.
