Default Opening Differential

I have checked the FAQ and attempted to search but nothing has come up.

I remember there was a guide posted a while ago about installing aftermarket gears.

Could someone link me to t hat?

I have removed all the bolts that hold the diff together, as well as removed the output shafts. But the diff just will not open up. What am I missing here?

Try banging it with a rubber mallet to see if it falls off. Maybe it's just glued to it!

My original rear diff blew up about a month ago and I swapped in a new one

The blown one has been sitting around in my room for a while, I decided to try to open it up to see if it's just the ring/pinion that is toast (likely). If thats the case then I'm gonna put some KIA 4.77's in.

Thanks for finding the links for me Elson.

and yeah I've banged it a couple times with a hammer+cloth. Not too keen on that though - it's an expensive part!

I opened it up today (banged on it with a rubber hammer)

My pinion thing got really really f'd up. I took pictures and will post them up later.

The ring gear looks fine.
