The ramp should point to the rear, I have also seen them in the reverse orientation.

Yes, I believe that is correct. So, to remove them, you slide the housing a bit toward the front of the car, the flexible tab on the blunt side of the housing flexes to permit this, and you can then lift the rear of the housing away from the sheet metal because the fixed tab on the ramped side of the housing is moved forward just enough to come out from behind the sheet metal. The housing should then lift away easily.

The flexible tab on the blunt side of the housing is fragile and may break if mishandled in which event you will need a new housing, or you can jury rig a repair.

To install the side marker, I believe you orient it with the ramped side to the rear, slide the leading edge of the ramped side of the housing toward the rear of the car to position the fixed tab on the housing in behind the sheet metal a bit , then snap the front blunt side into the sheet metal at the front of the car by pressing it in gently, (the flexible tab on the blunt side flexes to allow the housing to snap in and sit flush to the sheet metal, and then the tab snaps back behind the sheet metal to hold the front of the housing in place).

Having done this a few times this is my take on the way to do it without breaking anything and it seems to work well. The only other thing I might add is that it is probably a good idea to clean the paint around the marker before removing it to minimize the chance of scratching the paint in the process. Also, before you but back in, it is probably good to be sure the housing surface that contacts the car, and the paint around the opening, is clean.

Orange side turn signal lenses are OE and "correct" on all but the CR. On my Silverstone car I prefer (and fitted) the clear markers with yellow LEDs.

The lights are labeled Left and Right. They look identical to me but they're labeled. The angled end is the rear to make the turn signal better seen when changing lanes.

These are impossible to remove without breaking the tabs in my experience, the plastic gets fragile with age. Found this out changing a burned out bulb and AGAIN changing the bulbs to Yellow LEDs. I have a complete spare set now but with LEDs I don't expect to have to remove them again..

Did you have to change the turn signal relay as well?

No relay change needed, at least not in my '06 car which might have LEDs in the rear as OE. (No fast flash.)

I actually went with the smoked sides on my 05 Silverstone and am really liking them. They seem to add a nice contrast to the paint color and the Advan wheels in hyper black.

Got a photo? Just curious how they'd look on my same color car.

no relay needed, they don't make the lights hyperblink like you get when the turn signal bulbs are changed to LED. These have no effect on the turn signal circuit, which is good.
