Default Out of time?

Seems like I can not get the car back in time. The exhaust cam will not line up perfectly even. Any help is appreciated.

Your cam wheel isn't lined up properly, get the crank and cam wheel marks lined up first, then worry about getting the camshafts line up.

In the above pic, the exhaust camshaft is off one tooth counterclockwise.

The marks on the cam wheel aren't lined up with the head either.

So I have read if it's even one tooth off the car will not start? So my car is running does that mean I'm in the clear as far as time? After making the adjustment slow pointed out it fired right up.

That is not true.

Your exhaust cam is one tooth off, guaranteed.

If you turn the crank slightly clockwise so the camwheel marks are aligned with the head, it will move both cams counterclockwise, making it even easier to see.

Billman, how does the cam get off by one tooth? Is it due to a prior fix, not done correctly?

Thanks!

It can only happen during removal and installing of the camshafts.
