Output shaft removal?

Default Output shaft removal?

Can the extension housing and output shaft be removed without trans tear down? i have bearing noise in the tail section of trans and need to replace bearings in this location hasd anyone done this?

Tear down as in: #1 - remove trans from the car or as in #2 - taking it apart?

#1 - I donno, by the looks of it you need to drop & tilt the engine & gearbox a lot to reach the upper housing bolts and the shift rod.


#2 - as far as I know: yes.
The output shaft is not attached to anything inside the gearbox.

If those bearings are bad you may want to inspect (& replace) more of them.
And.. the magnet and trans pump inlet screen filter are inside the trans.

alright thanks i have only spent a total of about 30 min under the car so i did not get a good look at the top bolt access. I hate inside of transmissions lol its what im trying to avoid most. i would like to get some info form aus2000 who has just done this repair to see what he suggests. thanks though for the picture and info
